Zeeshan and Karina Hayat both started 100 Meals a Week in 2006 with just their cart, in which they deliver food and other essential elements to the homeless people of Vancouver, Canada. Since its inception in 2006, 100 Meals a Week has delivered over 250,000 meals. In July 2019, Karina and Zeeshan Hayat, alongside other community leaders, founded The Muslim Care Centre (MCC), partnering with numerous NGOs to offer essential aid to society’s vulnerable and less fortunate. Although still in its infancy, MCC has achieved remarkable success, distributing over 600,000 meals to individuals experiencing food insecurity in the DTES area, even amid the challenges of the global pandemic.
